Shea Butter

Harvested from the nuts of the African shea tree, shea butter has been used for centuries across West Africa as both skincare and ceremonial care. Traditionally whipped by hand, it was prized for protecting skin from harsh climates while restoring softness and elasticity. Rich in essential fatty acids and naturally occurring vitamins, shea butter forms a breathable barrier that locks in moisture without feeling heavy.

In modern formulations, shea butter is valued for its ability to soothe dryness, support skin repair, and enhance fragrance longevity by anchoring scent to the skin. Its naturally creamy texture allows products to melt gently on contact, transforming daily application into a tactile ritual of care.

Perfume Oils (Alcohol-Free Fragrance)

Perfume oils are among the oldest forms of fragrance, dating back to ancient civilizations where botanicals were infused into oils and balms rather than diluted with alcohol. Historically used in attars and solid perfumes, oil-based scents were designed to sit close to the skin, evolving slowly with body warmth.

Unlike alcohol-based perfumes, perfume oils do not evaporate rapidly or dry the skin. They offer a softer projection, longer wear time, and a more intimate scent experience. Because they blend with natural skin chemistry, the fragrance develops uniquely on each wearer.

Today, perfume oils represent a return to mindful perfumery — gentler on sensitive skin, travel-friendly, and aligned with slow luxury and personal ritual rather than fleeting scent.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E, scientifically known as tocopherol, has long been recognised for its role in protecting skin from environmental stress. Naturally present in plant oils and seeds, it was historically used in healing balms to support skin recovery and maintain suppleness.

Its molecular structure allows it to function as an antioxidant, helping neutralise free radicals that contribute to dryness and premature ageing. In formulations, Vitamin E stabilises oils while supporting the skin’s natural barrier, improving hydration retention and smoothness.

Today, it remains a cornerstone ingredient in modern skincare, valued not only for nourishment but also for enhancing product stability and longevity.

Natural-Grade Paraffin Wax

Wax-based perfumes and balms have existed for centuries, allowing fragrances to be carried in solid form long before liquid sprays became common. Natural-grade paraffin wax provides structure and stability, enabling products to remain solid while melting smoothly upon contact with skin.

Traditionally used in ointments, candles, and protective balms, refined paraffin wax creates a smooth, even texture that helps lock in moisture and slow fragrance release. In solid perfumes, it acts as a carrier that allows scent to unfold gradually rather than dissipate quickly.

Modern cosmetic-grade paraffin is carefully purified, ensuring consistency, safety, and a clean sensory finish while preserving the timeless format of solid fragrance.

Coconut Cream & Coconut Oil

Across tropical cultures, the coconut has long been known as the “tree of life,” with every part used in nourishment and beauty rituals. Coconut oil and coconut cream were traditionally applied to skin and hair for protection, conditioning, and natural glow.

Rich in fatty acids, coconut derivatives deeply moisturise while supporting the skin’s barrier function. Coconut cream lends softness and richness, while coconut oil enhances spreadability and helps seal hydration into the skin.

In contemporary formulations, using multiple parts of the coconut reflects a holistic approach — combining nourishment, texture, and sensory comfort while honouring traditional beauty practices rooted in simplicity and abundance.

Scent Botanicals & Fragrance Notes

Marichi’s scent profiles draw inspiration from classic perfumery traditions and natural landscapes — from bright citrus groves to soft florals and grounding woods. Historically, citrus oils symbolised freshness and vitality, florals were associated with ceremony and intimacy, and woody notes were used for grounding and longevity in fragrance blends.

Today, these elements are carefully balanced to create modern, gender-fluid compositions that evolve gently on the skin. Rather than overpowering, the scents are designed to feel personal and lived-in — enhancing presence rather than announcing it.

Each fragrance reflects a meeting point between heritage perfumery and contemporary wellness, where scent becomes an extension of daily ritual.
